What we collect, and what we don’t
Reading an answer requires nothing from you. No account, no sign-in, no email address, no profile. This page says what does happen, including the parts that are Google’s doing rather than ours.
The short version
- We do not ask who you are. There are no accounts on this site and no way to make one.
- We do not sell data. Not to advertisers, not to brokers, not to anyone. There is no arrangement under which your visit is a product.
- We do not build advertising profiles. We run no tracking pixels of our own and no analytics that follow you between sites.
- Google’s advertising does set cookies. That is the one place something is stored on your device, and it is covered below.
What happens when you check a claim
The claim you type is sent to our server and to the AI model that produces the answer. It is stored, because the answer is stored: every answer has a permanent address that anyone can read, and the claim it answers is part of it.
So treat the box as public. Do not put anything in it you would not want published — not your name, not anyone else’s, not anything private. We have no way to know a claim was meant to be confidential, and an answer that already exists is an answer that can be found.
The claim is not attached to you. We do not store it against an identifier, a session, or an account, because none of those exist here.
What the server records
Ordinary web infrastructure, and no more than it needs. Our host, Cloudflare, processes request data including IP addresses in order to serve pages and to stop abuse — the rate limits that keep one person from running up a bill for everyone rely on being able to tell requests apart.
We do not use that data to build a picture of you, and we do not combine it with anything else. If you send us an email, we have your email; that is between you and us and goes no further.
Advertising and cookies
This site carries advertising in a sidebar, served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including personalised advertising where you have consented to it. That processing is Google’s rather than ours, under its own terms, and you can review or change what it does at Google My Ad Center.
We pass Google nothing about the answer an ad is sitting beside — no keywords, no topic, no verdict, no claim text. That is deliberate: the surest way to guarantee an advertiser cannot reach an answer is for the advertising system and the answer system to share no data at all. The whole arrangement is set out here, including what an advertiser can and cannot do.
Where advertising is not switched on for a page, no request is made to Google at all.
The consent banner
If you are in the UK or the EEA you will be asked, once, whether you consent to Google’s advertising cookies. That banner is Google’s own, required by Google of every site carrying its advertising here, and we would rather tell you that plainly than let it read as ours.
Declining costs you nothing. Every answer, every source and every check-it-yourself step stays exactly as readable if you refuse everything. Nothing on this site is gated on consent and nothing ever will be — a site whose argument is that you should not have to take anyone’s word for anything cannot then charge you in personal data to see the evidence.
Refusing is as easy as accepting, and you can change your mind at any time from the link the banner leaves behind, or at Google My Ad Center.
None of it is for us. We run no analytics, no advertising profiles and no tracking of our own, so there is nothing we would be asking your permission for. The banner covers Google’s advertising and nothing else. Why we accepted it, and what we rejected instead, is written up in the decision record.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you may ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to processing. In practice we hold very little that could identify you, which is the point rather than an accident — the less that exists, the less there is to lose, misuse or hand over.
For anything Google holds, use My Ad Center — we cannot reach into it on your behalf. For anything else, or to ask us to remove an answer, email hello@letmecheckit.com. We reply to every message.
Changes
If this changes materially — a new advertising arrangement, a new processor — the change is described here rather than quietly folded in. A privacy policy that is rewritten without saying so is not a disclosure.
